We’ve won SIX Great Taste Awards

We’ve scooped six prestigious Great Taste Awards, including a highest triple gold star, in the annual food industry ‘Oscars’!
The triple gold star award was awarded to a Mediterranean Vegetable Pie handmade using Vallum produce at our Vallum Bakery. The pie, which is sold at our Patisserie & Delicatessen, was described by judges as “a work of vegetarian genius.”
Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the UK’s most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and specialist food producers. Of 10,000 entries, only 153 were awarded the Great Taste 3-star award, which puts Vallum Bakery’s Mediterranean Vegetable Pie in the top 1.5% of entries nationwide. Vallum Bakery’s Spinach and Vallum Fine Fettle Pie, which features Hadrian’s Wall Fine Fettle cheese handmade at the Little Dairy at Vallum, was awarded two gold stars for its “vibrant and moist flavour”, while Vallum Tea Room’s carrot cake was awarded two stars for its “great balance of cream to sponge”. Gold stars were also awarded to Vallum Bakery’s Walnut Bread, Vallum Tea Room’s Savoury Mince Pie, and Vallum Tea Room’s Minestrone with Bacon Soup. Congratulations to our Tea Room baker Gill Kemp, Tea Room manager Amy Clarke, and the team at Vallum Bakery.
